A must for any visit to Nepal! Visiting Kabi’s family farm and experiencing a slice of “real Nepali life” is the focus here, and as a former exchange student, I can say that this is a bit like that—you are treated as a visiting guest but also encouraged to do as much (or as little) around the house. The best part really is that you are able to just see and experience life in Nepal where you otherwise would need to live here and have personal connections. And that’s it: KABI IS YOUR PERSONAL CONNCECTION!

This really was a life changing experience. You start with the amazing views of the village around you, the hills around the village and the beautiful awesome Himalayas beyond the hills. The whole family are so welcoming . You'll eat with them, spend time with them, usually enjoy some singing and dancing on the terrace and a traditional ritual. Even the young teenagers speak good English and genuinely want to interact with the guests. But you feel more like family than just a guest. We got involved in various stages of producing the rice growing in the fields, milking the buffalo, churning butter and making chapatis. I learned that a chapati should be circular and not my imitation of a potato, much to the amusement of the poor sisters who then had to right my wrongs !! I'll never forget my brief time with Kabi and family, such a beautiful place, and all very well organised by Kabi, who also took us on an amazing 5 day trek. I can't recommend it highly enough!

You’ll feel at home with Kabi and family, right from the way they welcomed us with a warm smile to taking care of us throughout the day. Kabi made sure we had a wonderful time out there. Only downside is we just stayed there for a day but booking this place for 2-3 days would be ideal to enjoy the lush greenery and the surrounding forest

Our family of 6 stayed with Kabi and his family, and it was such a highlight of our trip to Nepal. This is a unique opportunity to experience Nepali village life. Kabi’s family are wonderful—we felt so welcome and comfortable. They allowed us to participate in the activities we were interested in learning about including farming, cooking and local customs and a fun-filled evening of song and dance with the community. The accommodations were very clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. We loved relaxing in the beautiful village and spending time with Kabi’s family. Highly recommended for people who want to get off the beaten path and learn about rural life in Nepal. Thank you to all of Kabi’s family for such a wonderful and memorable stay!

Our stay with Kabi & family was an amazing & unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome! The family house overlooks the Annapurna mountains in the distance, so waking up to the view in the morning was just breathtaking! Kabi’s mum & sisters prepared delicious food for us all everyday. All the food was made with fresh produce from the garden and milk from the family buffalos. Kabi’s Dad showed us how he milks them and makes ghee from the milk, which is a long hard process and also cutting and preparing the rice from the fields- which is hard work. We were lucky to be there for the Tihar festival. We made fresh marigold garlands, sang and danced- and I now have been granted 2 Nepalese brothers - Kabi’s father & uncle which I feel so grateful to have. Thank you to Anup & Chris who showed us the beautiful area and kept us entertained! If you are lucky enough to visit you will bring a little piece of it back with you for sure- I have. Thank you ❤️

This is the ideal destination if you seek an authentic experience of Nepalese family life in a rural farming setting. The village, situated high on a mountain above Pokhara, embraces a sustainable lifestyle. We were given a room with a private bathroom in the family farmhouse, with the most fantastic view of the mountains, including the snow-capped Annapurna range. All our meals were shared with the family, prepared in the outdoor kitchen over a wood fire, with vegetables freshly picked from their garden. We participated in various farm activities such as rice cutting, tending to buffalo, and yogurt making, which allowed us to fully experience the organic lifestyle of living off the land. Babu and his wife made us feel like integral parts of the family. We participated in farm activities, spent our days exploring the village and interacting with the locals, hiked on the mountain, swam in the nearby river, and went on long trail runs. A fantastic experience! Highly recommend!

How To Reach Us?

One option is to take a jeep directly from Pokhara to our village. The drive will take about 1 hour and 10 minutes, and you will reach our community homestay without any transfers. This is the best option if you are in a group. We can arrange a Jeep transportation for you.

One of the easiest and most convenient ways is to take a taxi. We can arrange for one to pick you up from your hotel in Lakeside or any location in Pokhara. The drive to Ghattichhina will take approximately 1 hour, and once you reach there, one of our representatives will be waiting to take you to our homestay. It’s a short 15-minute uphill walk from there to reach our charming community homestay.

If you choose to take a local bus, the journey will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach Ghattichhina. The bus departs from Hallanchowk, Lakeside, and there is a bus available every hour from 7 am until 5 pm. Once you reach Ghattichhina, you will need to take a short 15-minute uphill walk to reach our community homestay.

It’s worth noting that the bus that departs at 3:30 PM goes directly to our village, making it the most convenient option for travelers. Regardless of which transportation method you choose, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome at our community homestay in Barang village.
